OCTOBER TEST DRIVE

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!
Mikage | Pretear | Potential for spoilers - HUGE
The young maid stepped off of the train, seeming very confused. This... was not Awayuki town. She had gone to purchase some vegetables that the cook needed for supper, and wound up... here. Wherever here was. She wandered a bit, lost and unsure, not quite leaving the train station as she read the posters.
"I'm sorry?" she said, to the first person who seemed amiable. "I'm a little lost... Can you tell me how to get back to the Awayuki mansion, please?"
9.10 (This will be replied to from another journal.)
The woman looked nothing at all like the timid maid who had arrived the day before. Her long dark purple hair was almost black as it flowed down to her feet. Her long purple gown met it on the surface she was standing on - not the ground. No. The monster was semi-transparent green with lights moving through its gelatinous body. She stood on one of the many protrusions that could generously be called a shoulder. One hand rested on the odd rounded head, the other gestured, long nails dark against pale skin.
"Hear me now, peasants of this so-called Ruby City. You have three choices. Bring the Knights to me, send me home to my own world.... or lose your precious park, and then your lives. I have every intention of destroying my world, and no qualms in the least about using this one as practice!"
Yeah, The Queen of Disaster was TICKED.
I haven't seen Pretear in forever but oh maaaan!!
"Hey! The park has done nothin' to you!" She hollered up at the woman, the teal gem on the back of her uncovered hand glowing faintly. "And like heck 'm gonna let you destroy anythin' so come down from there! We're all stuck in the same boat!"
It is such a good anime!
She crossed her arms. "I presume you have a good reason to offer me as to why I shouldn't just drain you dry here and now? I'm bored enough to listen. Just."
It is!!!! I'm so happy to see other fans of it!
She plants on hand on her hip, looking up at the woman and trying her very best to push the fear forming aside. The cold and cruel smile makes her want to take a step back, but she forces herself to stand firm. If Naomi could deal with an insane spirit wanting to kill her then she could stand her ground against... Whoever this was.
"What d'you actually think wrecking the park'll accomplish? Nothing, 'sides destroying something nice! If anything it might just tick the people who kidnapped us all off." She keeps talking, giving Fenril the same little scowl her brother gave people. Or at least Naomi's best imitation of it. "You probably aren't the first person to demand bein' sent back either. Like I said we're all stuck here, we need to stick together instead of fighting."
I might also have a journal for Himeno and her Knights.... Because.
She strode down the "arm" of the Demon Larvae and it lowered so that she was just above the other girl's eye line, just out of reach, too far up and back.
"I have no desire to 'stick together' with anyone, nor have I any need."
Because that's awesome!! All the knights?
"Y'know it's not really nice to make someone have to shout up at you to have a conversation!" Not that she seemed particularly nice. "C'mon down from there!"
It's for a PSL >.<
"They can attempt to lock me up."
She vanished and reappeared where she had been. "And I am in no way nice. Nice people finish dead. Are you a nice person?"
no subject
He was ten times more terrifying.
Naomi does, however, take a small step the gem on the back of her ungloved hand glowing softly. "I'm a nice person! I'm also the person who won't l-let you be a jerk!"
The little stumble makes her curse. How did people act so brave all the time in the fact of danger?
no subject
If only Hayate was here... to see what he had created. "Teleporting is just one of my many skills, I assure you..." she smiled. It wasn't pleasant. "Would you like to see?"
no subject
God this was a right mess she'd gotten herself into. She'd tried to act tough but in the end she wasn't sure what to do. In theory she could try trapping the woman in a shield, but she could teleport so it would probably be pointless. That didn't leave her too many options.
What would Kou do if he was here? What would Tai do?
Tai would stand and fight, so she dug her heels metaphorically into the ground.
"I have a feelin' even if I said no you'd show me!" She raised her voice a little, frowning. "You look like a big, fat show-off!"
Kou would probably taunt.
no subject
She laughed. "Of course, you said you were going to stop me..." she teleported right in front of her, reaching a long sharp nail towards the other girl's face, attempting to "caress" it with the cutting edge. "How are you going to do that and flee in terror at the same time?" she mocked.
no subject
"Yeah, 'm scared but that doesn't mean 'm gonna run."
no subject
"You're right," she taunted. "Clearly you're too scared to run. Or too slow. You won't get far, staggering back a step at a time every time something spooks you."

Julian, having sensed the danger present about two minutes earlier, was himself apparently ready to fight, though he stood a dozen metres away. His depth-perception-obfuscating vantablack coat wrapped around his torso, his vibroblades (Furor and Ikazuchi) were equipped in their scabbards and The Revolver was at his hip, loaded with its five remaining everything-buster antimatter rounds. His bionic left arm was set to move with inhuman quickness, capable of drawing The Revolver in less than the blink of an eye.
His face was the epitome of nonchalant, his tone almost bored. Concealment of emotion was something he was proficient in – and he'd seen enough outrageous things in his time here to make the monstrosity that the woman rode feel like something he saw last Tuesday.
"Anyway, the only people who have a vested interest in the park, apart from the Overseers who like as not would simply snap their fingers and be done, technically don't. Their manor just ended up here and not elsewhere. If you expect the very people who ended up here the exact same way you did to be helpful when you're calling them peasants, then you're power-drunk."
no subject
She smiled, and it was a cold and unpleasant thing.
"Though I suppose I should thank you for that information. If no one here stays dead that means I can drain everyone dry again, and again, and again. Oh, think of the Leafe my pets could gather for me. Think of the suffering I could impose.... The shining colors of despair. What could be more delicious?"
"Perhaps these overseers will see fit to return me now, if not... perhaps they'll see fit to return me after I have turned this world into my wasteland, have built the greatest Doom Tree and drained their precious world dry."
She smiled at him again. "Would you care to be the first to feel death at the hands of my pet...?" Even if they were not technically hands...
no subject
The 'pet' was impressive, he had to admit. Her abilities were considerable if she could control and create / summon something like that. The only downside was that she was fond of destruction to the point of throwing around ultimatums rather than asking questions like sane people – and even not-quite-sane people.
“Me? Well, I’m a normal human being by a lot of standards, but I should say that with a flick of the wrist and a twitch of the finger, I can end that 'pet' of yours – and you, since you're standing on top of it," he replied, bionic hand casually drifting to The Revolver. "Nothing survives antimatter. No ifs ands or buts. And I can move faster than you'd think." He'd had time to perfect his draw, such that at point-shooting range he could ready the weapon and fire it within the blink of an eye. And this was definitely point-shooting range. At least he was well away from the blast radius this time.
"If you want to know anything about this place, then stop assuming you'll be able to do anything you want here and get off that godawful beast. I don't mind talking, but trust me when I say that getting the Overseers mad is worse than any rage of your own. They could easily disempower you, if they wished." Well, one of them could at the least. And they were one of the ones that liked this park, sort of.
Warning, in-coming spoilers. If you'd rather not have them PM me and I'll edit.
Go ahead, presume it is because she created the thing. She's just fine with people being wrong. Dead wrong, in fact. She ignored what he said about the Knight he knew, since it obviously wasn't Hayate. If it wasn't Hayate, what did it matter? It didn't. She cared about him and only him. She would see him dead for what he did to her. No one else mattered. Just piles of pure Leafe to power her ability to kill that one Knight. Though it was fun to make him suffer first, break down his precious new Pretear bit by bit... make him helpless to protect Himeno, helpless to stop the Queen of Disaster. To make sure he knew, before he died, that this was all his fault. All his doing.
"As to these overseers," her smile was anything but sweet as she raised her arms. "I'd like to see them try!" As she lowered her arms, the limbs of the beast shot out in all directions, sapping life force from the trees, grass, rocks, water.... yes. From the rocks and the water as well. Gathering for her... delicious Leafe.
I'm fine, don't worry.
Though the 13mm diameter bullet only contained half of a nanogram of antimatter within, it was capable of destroying a main battle tank of the 21st century. One nanogram of antimatter and one nanogram of matter annihilating each other produced roughly 179 750 000 Joules of energy, or 82.6% of the explosive yield of the Mk81 general purpose bomb. 22 kg TNT equivalent was nothing to laugh at when compressed into an area no larger than the tip of a finger.
"Have it your way."
Thus, it was no overstatement to say that the resulting explosion was quite large, especially for something so small. If she survived, which wasn't impossible for someone he presumed to wield magic, she would likely be thrown back a few metres.
Cool.
Harumph.
"And just how many times can you do that?" she asked as she tossed down another Demon Seed. It cost her Leafe to create them, but she was alright for the moment to make several more. And she would do what she had to to end this boy....
....unless.....
Oooo, now there was an idea. If that power was intrinsic to him.... She could turn him. Imagine the Doom Tree should could make of such a heart, shattered....

He took a path that didn't give the thing time to fully grow before he was on it, Furor arcing at simply inhuman speeds to cut into it repeatedly, diamond-edged titanium blade enhanced by high-frequency oscillations that made cutting through stone as easy as slicing tomatoes.
"If you want try anything, you'll find it difficult. I'm not fond of people attempting these sorts of stunts. It gets people like you nowhere and means excess effort for people like me." The nineteen-year-old was not new to rhetoric, either.
"Aside from myself, you'll find people – not humans, but still civilised people – with abilities that make this… stuff you're doing look like parlour tricks. Even the knight you apparently have no care for that is trapped here as well performs more intriguing feats than yourself. Fear not the one man's actions against whatever you want to do, but the actions of the dozens that outmatch him with one hand and outmatch yourself with the other, as it were."
no subject
But could she but turn him to her side, that strength fighting for her? Not even as a Doom Tree core, but perhaps swaying him to her side. Oh yes, that could be lovely. But would he be turnable while she looked like this.... or... would she have to take a new face? Well, she could try. Any attempts as Fenril wouldn't count against Mikage. That was the point of her.
She leaned against the tree, and looked her most angry and hurt. Men sometimes reacted to that. Knights did sometimes anyway. Perhaps he would be the same? This would have worked with Go or Sasame, anyway.
"Well what else am I supposed to do?" she snapped, furious seeming, though she let some pain show through her eyes. She hated doing that, showing that much truth, but it would be worth it. "Everyone who has ever said they'd help me has betrayed me, so yes, I'll do whatever it takes to get home! To...to make him hurt as much as he hurt me!"
Now to see if he took the bait. Emotional manipulation was her thing, though she usually did more of that as Mikage. So innocent, so sweet looking, little Mikage. No one ever suspected her. Even stupid Himeno.
no subject
"Now, if you're wanting any help from me, you're about five minutes too late for that," he continued. It was uncharacteristic of him to be even half as blunt, but he'd been growing more and more fed up to this point. "Even people that aren't actually on the sane side of things have been more capable of politely asking questions and being more or less civil in this mess of a town than you. You're the first to cause a commotion as irritatingly pointless as this one and hopefully the last. When people say that they think you're power-drunk, they usually mean it. When a man says he's not the toughest guy in town, you pay attention because that's something you'll only hear once in a blue moon. And yet you did not."
To say he was disgruntled would be to speak lightly. If his legs were not mere flesh and bone, the young man would have placed himself in her face and backhanded her off the tree already. With his off hand (which was not bionic). Alas, they were not – and thus, he did not.

So she put her hastily made plan into action. Or... should that be....maid? It was hard not to smirk, but she left the anger in her eyes, vanishing and reappearing in a tree just a bit further from him, but to one side.
"If I'm the first, I assure you it is because I am also the best," she sneered, bluffing to the moon and back if she had to. She needed him angrier at her, enough so that he wouldn't stop to think about helping one of her victims. "I never doubted you when you said there were others here who were stronger than you," now she did let herself smirk. "After all... I am here now. So you swatted a few flies. I've only half started. Like I told that little girl back there, I have no interest in wasting my power on small fry. You want to send some of these stronger people at me, please do. I look forward to sipping their sweet Leafe. I look forward to pointing out, as they die, who sent them to me. Meanwhile... The girl at the train station? she was just the first. How many people do you think, before I hit one you love? Oh! Or maybe I already did. Tell me," she taunted. "any of your loved ones here have short hair?"
She laughed, appearing in a different tree. Further from the train station. "And with that, I bid you adieu. Come find me again when you get a bit stronger...." Laughing, she vanished.
(The following is for if he takes the bait, and will be replied to from a different journal)
Appearing just outside the train station when no one was watching, looking like the maid Mikage, she collapsed onto the ground in a heap. Magic was wonderful, and so instead of looking neat and put together, she looked drained and half dead - pale skin paler, dress filthy with a tear in the skirt, a shoe missing, hair mussed terribly and studded with bits of plant matter, like she had been fleeing for her life... and failed. She dragged herself forward through the ground a bit after where she fell, towards the park, to make it look like she was desperately trying to escape and then....
She let her hand and head fall to the dirt, closed her eyes and she waited, keeping her breath weak and shallow. Even if she didn't get him, no way she wouldn't get SOMEONE.
[I've got DW on dark, so reading black text is harder. If you can fix that next, cheers!]
"That's not the point of the statement," he replied to her bluff, as much confused as exasperated. Sometimes people just don't make sense.
"From your earlier agitation and the fact that you're evading my words as much as my actions, I wouldn't exactly call what's just happened 'swatting flies'." She was a strange being, but he could see the rhetoric behind her words. "If you can barely keep up with me, I seriously doubt you'll want a taste of somebody who's able to repeat the damage I've dealt in half the time until you're left with nothing else."
Her attempt to goad him with perhaps having attacked someone he cared for fell flat, as the closest people to him in the city were better known by things than short hair – such as, I don't know, being physically disabled and walking everywhere with crutches – and they were not loved. "How much effort did you put into something that had no effect?" he all but laughed at the air where she had been. "I am alone here. No family or friends close as kin."
The woman was already gone, though.
He debated on whether or not to seek her out, to prevent her from trying to destroy something with more importance, but decided against it. The young man simply sheathed his blade and resumed his stroll about the city, a circuit that would eventually take him past the old Clocktower that stood opposite the station.
