Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.


Scenarios


1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...

Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall.

[The mantra is repeated over and over again as a teenage girl steps cautiously backwards, hands outstretched in case the watch decides to fall from where ever it is precariously balanced. There's a beat before she lowers her hands, clearing her throat.

Then she screams. Did she get your attention? She hopes so.

The scream lasts only a few seconds, and when she's done she straightens. She crosses her arms across her chest, trying to act as if she didn't just scream to get everyone's attention like a five year old.]

Hi! 'm Naomi Mikano. I just got here and I wanna just give whoever kidnapped me the heads up. My brother's gonna wreck you when he finds me.

[Because there were no 'if's in this. After the rather childish threat she relaxes, tucking a piece of black hair behind her ear. She was probably a sight to behold there on the radio, with her black and blond hair, floral dress and over sized motorcycle jacket. What might be even more strange is the glittering teal gems seemingly embedded on the back of her hands.

Normally she wore gloves to cover them but she'd taken them off earlier and forgot to put them back on. Whoops.]

So I kinda got the run down on how this all works but I've got a couple questions for the rest of you guys! [She grins then, pointing at the watch.] Who are you? What d'you do for fun? It sounds like we're all stuck in the same boat so let's be friends!

[She lowers her hands then, moving to pick up the watch. Then her eyes widen and she holds it - perhaps - a bit too close to her face]<

[So after a rather dramatic first message to Ruby City Naomi's gotten a bit more information about what's going on. She's also found the craft store.

Early the next day finds her camped out in front of the Obelisk, seemingly engrossed in making woven bracelets. Her eyes, however, flicker up every so often to people watch. The jacket was tossed to the side, seemingly acting as a makeshift back for her supplies and finished bracelets.

She also remembered to pull her fingerless gloves back on.

The young maid stepped off of the train, seeming very confused. This... was not Awayuki town. She had gone to purchase some vegetables that the cook needed for supper, and wound up... here. Wherever here was. She wandered a bit, lost and unsure, not quite leaving the train station as she read the posters.

"I'm sorry?" she said, to the first person who seemed amiable. "I'm a little lost... Can you tell me how to get back to the Awayuki mansion, please?"

The woman looked nothing at all like the timid maid who had arrived the day before. Her long dark purple hair was almost black as it flowed down to her feet. Her long purple gown met it on the surface she was standing on - not the ground. No. The monster was semi-transparent green with lights moving through its gelatinous body. She stood on one of the many protrusions that could generously be called a shoulder. One hand rested on the odd rounded head, the other gestured, long nails dark against pale skin.

"Hear me now, peasants of this so-called Ruby City. You have three choices. Bring the Knights to me, send me home to my own world.... or lose your precious park, and then your lives. I have every intention of destroying my world, and no qualms in the least about using this one as practice!"

Yeah, The Queen of Disaster was TICKED.

[It's snowing. Just a little bit; not terribly heavily, not enough that Shin-ah is worried. But snow is unfamiliar, as most things are unfamiliar to him. He walks through the falling flakes with an expression of muted curiosity--or at least half of one, given that only his mouth can be seen under his mask.]

[The instinct of play doesn't come naturally to him, so he doesn't stick out his tongue to catch snowflakes. Instead, he holds out one hand palm-up to net a flake as it falls, only to stare perplexed at it as it melts in the palm of his hand.]

[He gives up on it quickly. It's clear that holding snow in his hands is one of those things that, were he not so ignorant, he'd never have even tried.]

[Everywhere is different here. It isn't his caves, nor is it the seaside, nor is it the open plain of his first few years. Something about it is different, although he can't quite put his finger on what. It looks like home but not.]

[He misses his friends, he realizes gradually as he wanders the city. That's strange and new as well; he's never before had friends to miss.]

[The bells dangling off his mask chime as he makes his way to the center of the city. He wanders in and out of shops, considering the goods in total silence. Food fascinates him, but he doesn't attempt to ask for any, assuming no one would give it to him. Books (in the library and the bookshop) worry him; he can't read, so he looks at the spine while being very careful not to touch in case he gets yelled at.]

[ This is...what is this? Where is she?

Just a few minutes ago, she was following Undyne, greeting the surface world, and all the monsters had gone free. Then, she just...woke up? In a train? And now she's...here.
Wherever "here" is. ]

I-i-is anyone there?...

[ She fidgets her claws, cautiously stepping around in the platform. The train is suddenly gone, and there is no way something that big just disappeared without making any noise.

Looking up, she spots one of the posters- it doesn't make her any less confused, but it's...something?]

5. HELP, IT HURTS

[Komaru had no idea how this had happened, but she was limping through a town she didn't recognize. Her head in daze, she had left the strange train and taken in her surroundings as if in a dream, as she had walked the streets of this empty place, another empty town like the one she had left behind. Well, not fully, as here there were no kids running in the streets, literally poking the dead bodies of their former family members and other adults with sticks, no Monokumas jumping out at her. But also no Toko to speak to.

She had missed her best friend before, of course, but after she had tripped and fallen off some crumbling pavement, not only grazing both her knees on the hard floor, which now were bleeding, but only twisting her right ankle so badly it was now huge, slowly turning black and blue, swollen to twice its usual size. It also was so painful, she could hardly keep moving, having to try and hold onto buildings so she could keep going. She had to, unsure as she was if something may not be there after all, something that would suddenly appear and try to rip her throat out. Komaru was far too used to that possibility by now to ignore it, despite the town's apparent peace and quiet.]

Argh ... uh ... [The sounds escape her, giving just a slight impression of how bad her ankle really is. One foot at a time, she keeps going, though, until finally she reaches a building she sees light inside of. Her knuckles tap onto the glass of one window, hoping that someone's there. Someone who can help her.]

Hello? Excuse me but ... I'm hurt! Can you ... maybe help me?

[Her free hand grips her hacking gun tightly, half-expecting whoever is inside to attack her, as she presses her body against the wall and eyes the entrance to the building suspiciously.]

4. A RUN-IN & 8. BEING FOLLOWED

[Komaru was running for her life. Not that such a description was anything new if one considered the recent events in her still rather short life. But here, in a lovely looking park such as this she had expected to just sit down on a bench and relax for a moment, enjoying the sun on her face and the smell of the trees.

The peaceful moment had come to an abrupt end when the young woman had heard a noise, as if someone - or something - had stepped on some branched that had snapped as a result. Startled and frightened, she hadn't even turned around and instead started running in the direction of the big clocktower she could see in the distance.

Of course, she had not looked where she was running to, having her eyes focused just on her feet to avoid tripping. Of course, this had made her not see that someone was crossing her path. Someone who she had now knocked down along with her, only to find herself sprawled on top of them. Still breathing heavily, both from the running and the embarrassment of the situation, Komaru exclaimed a heartfelt apology.]

I'm sorry! Something was behind me and I didn't look-! Are you okay?

[ one - bad weather ]

[It's pouring outside hard enough that each raindrop feels like a small sting. Give yourself less than a minute outside and there wouldn't be a dry patch on you anywhere. It's a wonder how anyone is outside right now.

Except Lapis. The rain doesn't seem to bother her as she walks down one of the main streets, passing by the shops and cafes at her own leisure. Only... the rain doesn't seem to be reaching her. In fact, she's completely dry as the rain only seems to hit an invisible barrier around her. It's almost eerie.]

[ two - dumpster diving ]

Peridot? Peridot! [The rain seems to have calmed down from earlier and now Lapis is actively searching for anyone she might know. Peridot, she assumes she might find near any of the damp and dark alleys where the trash is left. That seems like a place Periodt might enjoy rummaging through for her meep morp purposes.

Lapis opens a trash can lid and calls out inside, her expression deadpan and eyes half lidded.] Peridot...? Ah.

[The young woman that steps off the train looks... well, not quite like normal arrivals. She certainly looks human, her hair is dark and long, Cherokee features, pale skin, and it's all made sharper somehow by a series of sapphire tattoos on her face and neck and shoulders. There are more but her clothes cover the rest. The central tattoo is a filled crescent moon on her forehead.

She holds herself very confidently considering her apparent age, looking like she's still in her teens (and she is) but she looks around curiously. Strange things happen to her, this doesn't freak her out like ending up in the Otherworld did when she got back from pulling her shattered soul back together.

She at least reads the signs in the station before she grabs the watch and opens it up. Hi Ruby City.]

So, uh, hey. I'm Zoey Redbird, high priestess of Nyx. Um... Guess I'm new here and gonna be here awhile. So that means I'm gonna need some help. I have some... kind of unique dietary requirements? So I need really open minded people.

[Anyone in the park might come up on Zoey there, snow falling but the young woman not wear even a sweater at the moment. Any normal person would be completely frozen and sick at this point. Instead, she's exploring the park and cleaning it up the best a single person can. Sometimes, if someone is particularly observant, they might notice that the wind specifically shifts away from her. Or the snow evaporates entirely before hitting her skin.]

OPEN LOCATIONS (and scenarios, actually)

The rain is actually... kind of nice.

So nice, this guy can be seen standing right out in the middle of it, head tilted back for a moment as the rain pours down. Maybe this is a ridiculous idea, considering the temperatures have been dropping pretty low around this time of day. But, to be frank, it's not the dumbest thing he's ever done. Right now, he just needs some time to clear his head, and really? This is about the only thing that's come close to doing it, since he arrived on that mysterious train.

Eyes closed, he releases a heavy sigh, and then resumes looking around. It's definitely not every day that he finds himself in a strange place with no way of leaving... but well, he supposes things could be much worse. The way things had been back home...

...Actually, he's going to stop his thoughts right there, and purely focus on figuring out who else is around. So, he might approach you, asking your name, how long you've been here. He'll be traveling from the train station to wherever his feet can carry him. He won't be stopping any time soon, regardless of this downpour -- though, he will be taking time to dry off in any of those places that seem like they might(?) be restaurants(???)...
