Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.


Scenarios


1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

She tilted her head delicately to look at him, twisting deftly in her seat - a delicate graceful motion. "Two?" she asked, as if startled, a small welcoming smile on her face. "Would you like to have a seat? The cookies and tea aren't homemade, but they are quite good."

A bow, neat and precise, and clearly aimed at both Nadeshiko and her Chara.

"Aye? If you are trying not to be seen, little lady," He raises an eyebrow at Tamari. "You do a poor job of hiding."

A graceful tip of his head. "Forgive the interruption, but thank you - I would not mind trying some."

Tamari smiled, putting her little kimono draped hands over her mouth as she curtsied.

"Not so much trying to hide, as not used to people who don't have guardian charas of their own being able to see her," Nadeshiko said with a warm smile. "I can order more if we run out."

"A guardian chara?" Erestor repeats as he takes a seat.

"I fear I do not know what that is, mistress. And thank you, but do not feel obliged on my account."

[nadenagi]

"Nadeshiko," she said gently. "There is no need for honorifics at the moment. And a Guardian character..." she considered, smiling. "have you heard the story about the soul's egg?" she asked.

"Nadeshiko" He repeats and bows again briefly. "Erestor, at your service. And yours, little lady?" He asks Tamari.

He shakes his head. "The soul's egg? No, I fear I have not."

"This is Tamari," she said, holding up a hand gracefully. Tamari landed on it.

"All kids," she said, telling the tale from memory, "have an egg in their soul. The egg of our hearts. As yet, unseen."

"When a child has a strong desire to be a certain way, sometimes... sometimes they awake to an egg. There is a theory," she said, sipping her tea as Tamri settles onto her shoulder, "that there are two kinds of guardian charas born from those eggs. There are those like Yaya's Pepe and Souma-kun's Daichi that are just who they are... amplified. Yaya wants to be a little baby character, resiting being the big sister, when Pepe was born, and so Pepe is a baby character."

"The other sort are more like what Tadase has," she said with a small fond smile, and another sip of tea. "Children who want to be something they aren't desperately, tend to hatch Charas that are their potential given form. Tadase hates being shy and nervous. His chara, Kiseki," she smiled fondly, "is a little king who wants to take over the world. Quite adorable really."

Tamari shrugged, then fluttered down to the table to help herself to a cookie. "He keeps wanting us to do things that would get my Kimono dirty."

Nadeshiko chuckled. "Kiseki keeps trying to train the other charas into an army to take over the world. Sometimes they play along, because it's fun, but I think sometimes they enjoy watching him blow his top more than they enjoy playing along."

"Lady Tamari" Erestor tips his head at her politely.

"A curious tale." He says with a crook of his eyebrow. "Not one that I have ever heard. Bu then, I do not know all the tales of Men."

A small quirk of his lips. "I see. Yes, for a lovely lady such as yourself, I imagine it might be quite troublesome." He nods at Tamari. "I have a friend... who is very like that, although he really is old enough to know better."

And then some.

"And is it only children then, who have these... soul eggs?" He asks Nadeshiko, and pours for her as her cup is getting empty.

[nadenagi]

"Thank you," she said as he poured her more tea. "Mostly, though there have been one or two adults we've met that had them. Even one who thought he had lost his guardian chara before it was even born. Amu's chara, Su, she helped him rediscover the who he wanted to be, back then."

[asinglebook]

"Ah" Erestor nods, thoughtfully. "So they are... perhaps the expression of your hopes and dreams, I suppose. How strange. Men have nothing like that in my world, so I must assume this is something unique to yours. I suppose those full grown would have less reason to have one, as they would, hopefully, have achieved their goals, by then, or found new ones." Few, Erestor knows, ever fulfil exactly the dreams of their childhood.

[nadenagi]

"Also, may adults seem to not WANT to believe, for some reason," she said, with a warm smile.

"But yes, many adults have already found their dreams. It is always a lovely thing to watch."

[asinglebook]

"Oh?" Erestor blinks "So they... willfully blind themselves to the existence of such things? Strange, but not unheard of, I suppose. Folk will believe what they wish to, sometimes in the face of much evidence to the contrary."

The nerve of some people, spreading rumours about Arwen!

She gave a warm smile and filled a tea cup for him. "Much of out lives depends on our heart and our spirits, sometimes our minds do odd things to protect us," she said warmly. "No one is to blame for that."

She slid the tea cup to him then refilled her own again. "Cookies?"

"I suppose so, although I have not heard it expressed in quite those terms" Erestor nods thoughtfully and smiles at the offer.

"Thank you." He reaches to take one and nibbles at it. "Not bad." He judges.

She smiles warmly. "I've had to learn a lot about people, being a guardian," she said fondly.

"Oh? A guardian of what, if I might be so bold to ask?" Erestor tips his had at her curiously. "And your pardon, but you seem passing young, although I know Men age differently."

[nadenagi]

"The guardians are the chara bearers at my school who help take care of the students, and defend their hearts and their dreams." She smiled warmly. "We also do a lot of administrative paperwork, and have fun. But most of the time, the battle is won or lost by our being able to understand the pain other people are in, and to figure out what words they need to hear to heal their hearts."

A warmer smile, one full of love and friendship. "Amu wouldn't seem like it, if you only saw her outer character, but... she's the best at it. She's amazing at understanding how people really feel, and saying just the right thing to help them."

"Ah" He nods. "A worthy endeavor. The battles of the heart are the harder battles, I think, though not fought with blade or bow. But a wise word can ease much. Amu is your friend, I take it? It sounds as if you are very close."

[nadenagi]

"My best friend," she said with a small smile. Sadness, longing, and amusement all in her eyes and the twist of her lips. "It near about broke my heart when I had to leave, and I'm afraid I was not a good friend in return. I... could not bear to see her upset, so... I left her a note, instead of telling her I was leaving..." she said softly, the sadness stronger now.

Tamari landed on her shoulder and patted her face with a kimono-covered hand, trying to cheer her up.

"It is always hard to leave" Erestor nods. "I am glad you at least left her a note. Will you have the chance to meet her again? Or at least to write her letters? It would ease her, and you too I think, to have at least some better method of closure."

[nadenagi]

"Before I came here...?" she asked with a shrug. "I'm not sure how I would get back." she stirred her tea thoughtfully. "At least then I knew my brother would be with her in the next few years, and I could get letters, but I've never heard of Ruby City before this, so I am not sure how the post will work."

She smiled warmly and sipped her tea. "Still, I will try. And a whole new place does mean new dances to learn!"

"Getting back will be the difficult part." Erestor nods. "And I suspect you may have to suspend all communication whilst you are here. But something to think about when you return, I suppose. If your brother remains in contact with her, he can, at least, pass your messages on when you return."

"Oh?" He lifts an interested eyebrow. "A dancer?"

She nodded. "It's why I left, to study abroad all the forms of dancing that I can find. Of my brother and I, whoever can better teach more forms shall inherit the dance studio. It always goes to the eldest born, but as we are twins, skill, talent, effort... we will each do our best."

She gave him a broad warm smile. "Really, I love to dance."

"And the studio cannot be shared between you both?" Erestor crooks an eyebrow at her. "It seems to me that would be the fairest solution."

He nods with a small smile. "If dancing is what you love, I hope you find many reasons to dance."

[nadenagi]

"We prefer it this way. There is no animosity or anger," she said with a warm smile, sipping her tea.

"There are always reasons to dance," she said with warmth.
