Maybe you've considered appping a new character but you're not sure how well they would adjust to the in-game scenario? Well, here's a chance to give it a try!
• Post with a character journal you'd like to voicetest or you've considered apping to Ruby City. Feel free to play them as newcomers or as if they've been here for a while - the setting is your own choice.
•Respond to other threads with new characters or with characters who are already in the game.
• Explore different interactions, find castmates, develop possible CR - anything you want, as long as you have fun!
[video/action] Rose Lalonde | Homestuck
While these posters are a helpful introduction, there are still questions that bear asking. Though I suppose that if there were a definite "how" or "why" or "how long" that had been discovered, they'd be readily posted as well?
[A faint sigh. She had thought she was done with the whole "being forced to leave one's residence and plunged into an unfamiliar, probably antagonistic setting without clearly defined rules and precious little idea what's going on" thing. Most especially the "little idea what's going on" part, with the advent of her Seer powers.]
My name is Rose Lalonde. Theories formed in answer to the previous questions are welcome. As are suggestions about exactly how one passes the time in a place such as this.
no subject
If Rose ever wondered what she'd look like at age 56 this is it.]
"How" and "why" are still questions we're still looking for definitive answers to. "How long", however, is subjective to our captors whims. How the delicious question we can ask you is "when".
[Rose smiles.]
Hello, Rose. I'm Rose. It's a pleasure to finally meet you.
[not here] 1/2
Though her future has been too uncertain to do much planning as of late, Rose had entertained many fantasies over the years of growing up to become exactly what this alternate Rose is: a lovely, elegant, capable, badass famous authoress. It's like her dream future self just stepped into reality and validated all of her once-upon-a-time aspirations.]
[video] 2/2
For some strange reason, I'm getting a sense of de ja vu.
It's entirely my pleasure, I'm sure. [A flash of a grin before the smirk is back in place.] It appears as if our 'captors,' as they seem to be, have no lack of timelines to choose from.
They seem to be particularly picky about who they bring. I've meet three John Egberts in the near year I've been here. They seem to have a particular fondness for Striders as well. We previously had an abundance of them.
It appears there's still an abundance with some new arrivals, no? And an ample supply of Lalondes as well. The latter being much more fathomable than the former, of course.
[And a little disappointed Roxy isn't among them, whoops.]

Well.
It's been, what--half a year? A little longer than that, he thinks--since he saw her. Since he left her, really, alone in that doomed timeline, and even if grandma-age her always takes time for him, it isn't the same.
Davesprite's missed her.]
Figures by the time you finally showed up you'd've ganked my colors.
'Sup?
My overwhelming lust for Strider-irony must have been so strong that it influenced the game's pajama color schemes.
It's been a good while, has it not? [A pause and raised eyebrow as an unexplained Seer's premonition nags at the back of her mind.] Though perhaps it's been a good deal longer for me than for you.
[After all, she's been on the meteor for two years.]
Yeah, looks like. I came straight from trainwreck meteor-dodging ex-Reckoning-town and then hung out here for a few months. I think I'm fourteen now but who the fuck knows. You?
[As he speaks, he takes off from his rooftop perch and starts to circle towards the train station.]
[She shrugs.]
[The train station's on the complete opposite side of the city from where he lives with the rest of the Strilondes, so he may be a short while.]

Have you ever wondered what your ectosib would look like if he was about 40-some years older? Well, wonder no more! You've met Roxy's Mom, now say hello to Dirk's Bro.]
Pretty much like you said. There's some pretty ambivalent overlords who don't meddle in the affairs of mortals too much, aside from occasionally fucking everyone over and making our lives a living hell.
That said, pretty much anything's fair game as far as passing the time goes. Feel free to raid the shops - everything's either free or on the barter system here.
[With those shades and that voice (albeit deeper but still not dissimilar to the Dave(s) Rose knows), an introduction is redundant and a little unnecessary.]
no subject
Yes, Rose [eugh that's weird] mentioned something about captors, though not as yet about the fucking people over part. You'll have to kindly fill me in on that.
As for the shops--if everything's free, are the owners absent? Or just unbelievably benevolent?
no subject
Either absent or part of the general populace. I know some of the necessities shops restock themselves without any help from the peanut gallery, but some people have converted houses and other spaces into shit like tea shops, a bar, an armory, stuff like that.
As for the fucking people over, it's just got something you've gotta see to believe. Last weekend our clothes disappeared and got replaced with completely different outfits. Sometimes, it's hells of more serious.
no subject
[That would be a little concerning if she hadn't already picked up on the fact that time works differently here.]
Everyone loves a tormenter with a sense of humor, I suppose. At least the clothes-switching was probably worth a chuckle.
no subject
From what we can tell, no time passes back wherever you came from when you come here. If you go back, you just go on like nothing happened.
[He chuckles.]
Either that or a nigh-critical case of secondhand embarrassment.
[No shame. None. This Dave is actually genuinely shameless, not just guarding his weak spots.
You should've seen his legs in those heels, though.]

AW HELL LET'S GO WITH ACTION SHALL WE
Even if she's forty years younger, he doesn't need her name to know who she is.
Dirk slides his shades up to a more secure position on the bridge of his nose with the tip of his forefinger, then steps into view with the kind of idle swagger that can't belong to anyone but a Strider.. as if the hair and Kamina shades don't give him away.]
... Nice colours, Rose. [Definite approval of orange over here.]
YESSIREE
Thank you. As I informed Davesprite, I suspect that my overpowering lust for Strider irony must have influenced the game's pajama color schemes.
\o/
Tch, yeah, I know how it is with you Lalondes. Can't get enough of the Strirony.
[His expression quirks into a half-amused smirk and he steps forwards, one hand held out.]
I didn't have the opportunity to introduce myself last time we saw each other. I'm Dirk.
no subject
Of course you are. A pleasure, I'm sure. [Quirked eyebrow.] Though I must say, I hope you've not made a habit of spiriting away sleeping drunk girls.
