[ Being whooshed to a magical city all of a sudden and being expected to be a-ok with it is a bit of a weird notion, or so Apollo from some months ago would believe. Thing is, he's found himself to be a tad more tolerant of shenanigans ever since his employment at the Wright Anything Agency™, and as such, he's actually taking it sort of well.

Sitting around at the café, with a tiny notebook he browsed and occasionally scribbled observations on, he couldn't help but notice how far he had written into it. It felt odd, but also a tad reassuring. Both the new experiences with people he's known, and people he would never have had the chance to meet were enough for his experience in the city so far to be a remarkable one.

That, and the fact he's somehow come across hair gel. If such a condition weren't met, he'd be counting the seconds until he got whisked back to Earth. ]

Despite the fairly nice beige suit, Ken had kept up a habit of carrying around his belongings in a sack thrown over his shoulder while traveling. Considering this was about as far from the airport that was supposed to take him back to California as he could get, he knew something was up. What, though, was beyond him. For now, he decided to see what kind of a drink he could get before attempting to figure out just what was going on and why he was there.

He took a seat at the bar, dropping the sack next to the stool with a sigh. "Eliza is going to kill me... and so much for facing Ryu in the tournament. Hey, could I get something to drink please?"

Yosuke has gone to the Black Stallion to get himself a burger. Someone had to go a bit against Chie's steak habits. Why did she love those so much anyways? It was always going to be a mystery to him.

Once he entered the Stallion, his gaze fell upon a guy with a suit. Woah, not too many people were running around like that around here. He walks up to him, accidentally overhearing the words. Could it be...

[At the train station, there's what appears to be a small boy, about ten years of age. Currently, he isn't doing anything but lying quietly on the ground. That's not by choice. He's wrapped in a sheet, and there doesn't seem to be too much of him left.

In other words, he's not in the best shape imaginable, but he's alive, and his golden eyes are open, watching everything around him with interest. He's capable of turning his head to see a little of the world around him. However, he doesn't find what he's looking for.]

[ Perched on top of the train station is a man who's something of a tiger himself. One eyed, one armed, and grinning cheekily behind his securely fixed bandana, the man looks at the tiger with one dark gold eye and a swishing striped tail. ]

Though in my opinion, I think that's actually rather normal.

Train Station:

[When Hakumen arrived at his destination, confusion was apparent. He recalled taking transportation out of Kagutsuchi to make sure he didn't fall behind in his mission, but this was not it. As if someone controlled his very will. A disturbing thought, one no one could read thanks to that mask of his.

He steps off, surveying his surroundings. Not Ikaruga or even one of the surrounding areas. Wherever he was, it was beyond his knowledge. Maybe this was near his destination, and he had just not seen it before? No, even that didn't seem right.

He growled under that mask.]

Whatever the case, I'll need to refind my path.

[But the moment he turned around to get back on the train, a single step forward ended up forcing him back, another grunt forming. Again, he was infuriated.]

A barrier? No matter. I'll simply find an alternative.

[Starting a fight didn't seem wise, and this magic seemed beyond his current capabilities.]

The Clocktower:

[One can easily find him at the top, looking over the surroundings. There was something familiar about this city, something that screamed inside of him, like whenever he felt the presence of Ragna the Bloodedge around him, or even Terumi for that matter. Danger. It was clear, and he needed to find it immediately.

Disturb at your own caution.]

The Library:

[When he wasn't hunting for trouble, one could find him reading inside of the library, a large stack of books near him. Research was important, and maybe if he knew more about this city, he could find a way out of this insulting prison. Still, better than the last two.]

[To awake from such a nostalgic dream was peculiar enough, but to find oneself on entirely the wrong mode of transport was more than troubling. He was certain that he'd drifted off while still on the plane, and yet, this was a train, wasn't it? The rhythmic beat against the tracks certainly suggested so. There wasn't even supposed to be a train on their itinerary.

The train pulls into the station and Alucard steps off. Fortunately his clothing is more suited to the general public than usual as he'd dressed with travel in mind, after all. Unfortunately, his luggage still consists of one large, jet-black coffin. It has already been unloaded for him. He sits down on it and turns the unfamiliar watch over in his hands, pondering what to do next.]

of all times to remember these particular words of his tutor, banging his head on one of the many low shelves in an unfamiliar city was perhaps the most apt. the last time he bumped his head was during a rash moment in training as a young teenager, and then, too, had he learned something while wiping blood from his brow: plot every move in life as if it were your last or it will be. arriving in the city was...unexpected to say the least with no summoning and no master awaiting him after stepping off the train. he needed information on this place. that was the key to survival for iskander did not steal vcitory.

and it certainly wouldn't hurt to get lost in a book for a while.

[ the library isn't one of Madoka's most frequented places, but she comes here every once in a while. sometimes, it's nice to read something. and well, sometimes, it's just nice to pop over and see Waver too, and make sure he hasn't got so lost inside whatever it is he's doing that he's forgetting to take care of himself.

it just so happens that she's making her way over to the very same table as the man who towers so far over her that it's comical. she stops short, looking up (and up, and up), and hastily making an apology. ]

[A cafe? Kyrie hasn't really had the chance to sit at a cafe before, that seems like it could be fun, actually... Having tea other than green tea would be a nice change. Besides that, it's a good place to pick up little bits of information.

She orders tea and cake and takes a seat. Maybe a full, ornate kimono looks a little out of place in such a place, especially when she tries to sit Japanese style, and have her tea in the manner of a tea ceremony.]

He had visited the library to find some of the books he'd come to love since learning to read, but he's found most of the volumes strange and the order they're arranged in confusing. [When the train comes to a stop, a very large man will be stepping off only to turn and stroke his beard in thought. He'd heard of trains, but this was the first time he'd ever really been on one. What was more troubling was that he didn't remember getting on.]

[He mumbles to himself before turning around, one arm behind his back while the other continues to stroke his beard.]

This... is not like any city I've seen. A far cry from our little village in the countryside...

[ A: A man in chains steps off the station platform. Dressed in black and white and with a hawk on his shoulder, he looks like he just stepped out of a modern-day samurai soap opera drama. While he should by all means look happy to be out of police custody (what criminal wouldn't?) he actually looks furious. Just where in all the six hells is he? ]

[ Well, at least he can send his hawk out to investigate. Maybe she'll find something of interest in this bizarre place. Or maybe she'll see a familiar face and try to claw their eyes out. It's a toss up. He cocks his head, giving the bird the signal to survey the area. Perhaps Taka can find an answer to the mystery of the misplaced convict prosecutor... Yep, definitely sounds like the premise to an anime. In the meantime he remains stock-still. Meditating? Thinking about the way of the samurai? Wondering if he's going to miss the new episode of Neko Zamurai? Who knows.... ]

[ B: Having spent his fair share or time in the clink, Simon Blackquill has read his fair share of books in that time. It is therefore, not all that strange to see him in the library, leafing through yet another adaptation of 47 Ronin, his favorite book. He might still be in chains, but that doesn't mean he can't enjoy a good book. ]

[ The stern look on his face never fades as his eyes scan each page. He is as a samurai in training, fully engrossed in the book but ever aware of his surroundings as his loyal hawk, Taka, perches quietly on his shoulder. Are birds even allowed in the library? Well... ]

[Yep, Setsuna just walked into a coffee joint and only ordered himself a glass of milk. He's a rebel. But he always orders milk, and never tries any of the delicious blends of coffee available. And never snacks on much, except an occasional apple here and there.

But he takes a seat, and seems to be waiting for someone. Perhaps even for you!

She didn't really enjoy staying in the cathedral due to... previous shenanigans, but, like Setsuna, she's caught in the rain. It's not like some rain is going to kill her, but she's wearing her uniform shirt and pants, and whoever thought of making a uniform white must have a twisted sense of humour.

Mikasa's already in the church when he enters, sitting at the edge of the front row of benches, only turning her head to look at him. She doesn't say something for now, deciding to observe the other, first. ]

[He doesn't know what a train is. He doesn't know what a watch is. And the architecture in the city is alien to him, utterly unfamiliar. He cannot fathom what has happened to him, as he stumbles off the train: the impossibly loud and fast metal vehicle. Has he been brought here by the gods? But why? Why would the gods take him from Alexander's side, except to punish him?

He walks forward, slowly and dazedly, like a man lost.]

[As usual, he doesn't know what anything here is, but he is getting used to being unfamiliar with everything. That's--a kind of acclimatization, isn't it? He's wary of all this unknown food, not so much afraid that it might be poisoned (although it might be) as that it simply might not agree with him, being so unfamiliar. Yet he's very hungry and thirsty. He's managed to obtain a cup of coffee, and he sniffs at it curiously before turning to someone who happens to be nearby, speaking politely and cautiously.]

[There were many ways in which Isabela could have reacted upon stumbling out of some rather terrifying and mechanical transportive whatsit - train, she remembers vaguely - but neither option had really garnered much of her attention. Oh, she'd been worried, rightly so, really, but had only assumed that this could only have been the result of something magic-related. It wouldn't have surprised her, really, given the current (previous? she's not quite sure) situation she and her companions find themselves in. Perhaps Anders and Hawke had magicked up a way to escape? Perhaps Merrill, precious kitten that she is, had yet another cursed trinket up her sleeve that had sent them spiraling into another dimension.

Whatever the cause, whatever the reason for her predicament, there's little use or time for panic and mind-numbing worry. She'd concluded early on that the best thing she could do with both her time and energy would be to run a bit of...reconnaissance, just in case Hawke and the others happen to show up later. Visiting the Clocktower could have been a much more viable option for the rogue pirate to get a better understanding of her understandings, but Isabela finds that getting down to the nitty-gritty in order to scoop up information and gossip always works best.

And, by Andraste's buxom bosom, she'd been lucky enough to wander right into a tavern of sorts. Flesh and drink, skin and alcohol that didn't taste like piss water.

Isabela grins, leaning back against the wooden chair as she raises her eyes over the rim of her beer mug.]

[Ah, the Black Stallion. Over her time here in the city, Fang had become rather fond of the place. She could meet, drink, and enjoy the general company. It was a chance to broaden her horizons. There were so many colors and creeds, and then of course, people who looked similar to her. That was new. She stopped mid drink, staring over the edge of her mug, raising a brow. It was like a more voluptuous version of some other wordly doppleganger.

Clearing her throat, she finished the sip she had forgotten about momentarily, then set her mug down. Where did she come from and why did she choose her table in particular? Leaning forward, she rest her chin in her hand, looking the woman up and down, trying to get a grip on the "details."

Her voice broke some from surprise before she managed to catch it again, her accent stronger as she spoke.]

Coin isn't really common around here, love. Everythin's free unless you want t'barter your business.

[He thinks, if only to ignore the rising panic that threatens to overwhelm him, that he must have fallen asleep on the train and consequently missed his stop. There's no other explanation, really. There are mostly questions, questions which Makoto isn't sure he wants to ask himself in fear that he's perhaps not dreaming. That, and he swallows, glancing around nervously as the train pulls away, this isn't a dream concocted by both a morning of training and an afternoon spent indulging Nagisa.

If he had in fact fallen asleep and missed his stop, then he shouldn't be alone. Haru should be nearby. They must have gone home together. Makoto swallows again, hands balling up into fists as he spares another hurried glance around his unknown surroundings before spotting the flash of someone's passing shadow]

[ Labrys peeked into the train station warily, and maybe a little sadly as well. It was...sad, when people wanted one person but got another. Reminded her of how much she wanted her sister. ]

I'm sorry, I'm not- that person. Are you okay-? You look kinda...new.

Raye had kind of hoped to find a little bit of nostalgia when she ducked into the coffee house for a hot cup of tea. Cafes and diners were some of the best hangouts for the scouts when they were off duty, and there was a tiny part of her that was feeling homesick for the sound of her friends' voices and laughter. Even Serena's braying complaints would have been welcome.

But it wasn't quite the same. The cafe was too quiet. It made her feel like she was dwelling in a ghost town...which might not have been far from the truth, honestly.

Nonetheless, she mashed down her disappointment and retained a calm facade. A muffin and a cup of tea were all she seemed to need. But halfway through the muffin, she found herself with her face cupped in her hands, her gaze drifting out the window to study the strange scenery and the even stranger people that dwelled in this bizarre city.

What in the world was she supposed to do?

[ One Mrs. Annette Renard Belmont is confused. She'd never seen a train before, and up until now, had certainly never been on one. So color her surprised to wake up, alone, just as it pulled into the station.

The poor woman staggers out and into the station itself, blinking. Posters... horror suddenly dawns on her. This is not Wallachia. This is not home. ]

...Richter? Maria...?

[ She glances around, before wrapping her arms around herself. She's not getting a good feeling about this at all. Someone might want to come and comfort her or at least explain the situation, otherwise she'll be wandering around aimlessly looking for her husband and sister. ]

[ This is a place she could feel safe and take refuge in, she just knows it. Even so, she's still getting an eerie feeling that she just doesn't like. She's not a fool, and she's certainly not stupid -- Richter is not here, nor is her sister. She's wandered around for hours, simply taking in the sights and sounds... everything, everyone... it's so different.

She doesn't really feel like she fits in, what with her clothing and her manner of speech; and these watches -- she's never seen anything like it at all. She doesn't know what to do with it or why it has to even be a thing.

She can be found sitting in the pews, head bowed, a hand clutching the cross that hangs from her throat. ]

[Juniper still wasn't used to this city, no matter how many times she had been around it. But she had found that her favorite place to be was on top of the Clock Tower, because of the view. She was used to being up high, living at over 3,000 feet back at home, so the height didn't bother her. Still, the view was breathtaking every single time she went up there.

And as usual she wasn't looking around to see if anyone else was coming up or was already there.]

[What was this place? Juniper clutched a sunflower from the top of her hat and breathed it in, attempting to calm down. It wasn't working quite like she wanted it to, though. She didn't know anybody here, she didn't know where to go... it was almost too much to bear. How did she end up on that train? Why was she forced out here? All these questions and more continued to poke at her mind as she began walking around the city...]

[ There's been an influx of people... moreso than usual. It's almost a little depressing; it means that more people are coming, but no one is going home, and it doesn't sit well with Trucy at all.

She's taken it upon herself these days to sit at the station and wait for the train to pull in to see if there are any familiar faces; even if there aren't, it doesn't stop her from answering questions and trying to be helpful. It's something to do, at least.

When the train pulls in today, off comes a girl; she doesn't look much older than herself. She looks lost and confused... she knows exactly what that feels like. ]

[ Sam knows libraries; perhaps not as intimately as his brother Buddha, but he knows them all the same. working part-time as a university librarian at one of the stuffiest universities on Earth does that to you. in any case, apart from being rather fascinating repositories of knowledge and also evoking fond memories of better times spent in Heaven, libraries also attract Sam for one other reason.

they make such excellent weapons to utilise in one's arsenal. know thine enemy is one of the first principles of survival, right above and be prepared to sock him in the face with magic when he least expects it. and since he's currently and rather worrying trapped in what seems to be a whole other universe, he needs all the information he can get. know the rules you're expected to play by, and you know better how to break them.

a pity, then, that there seems to be a grand total of absolutely nothing useful pertaining to the city in here.

anyone wandering through the library will find a man, with black hair, pitch-black eyes, and an assortment of black, shapeless, and wholly unfashionable clothes, sitting behind a stack of books that he's now abandoned in favour of folding intricately elaborate paper planes. he's launching them through the open window next to him, apparently amusing himself.

some of those planes definitely look like they're impossible, from a paper engineering standpoint. ]


[ OPTION B: THE GENERAL STORE ]

this, however, does not answer the mystery of why his basket is full of nothing but cans of coca-cola and many tubes of differently coloured toothpaste. perhaps someone should question him on his bizarre shopping choices. ]

[Weird shoppers are us. Right now, Cecil has mushrooms, orange milk (it took ages to find), and a space, large enough for invisible corn to fit. There isn't a trace of wheat or wheat by products in the basket. None at all. They may not be banned here, but he's not going to take the chance.]

[Strange new locales? Communication links cut off? Suspicious circumstances and weird objects planted on him after being knocked unconscious? Well it was a bit extreme, but nothing he hadn't seen before. Probably. Certainly nothing he hadn't trained for at one point in his life.

He was grateful he'd been dropped off in his Robin costume, meaning he was more than well-equipped to at least scout the area. Hopefully it didn't mean his identity had been compromised or anything-- but that was a concern to deal with later, since there seemed to be a suspicious lack of news broadcasting outlets.

In the mean time, he'd made his way to the highest point in the city: the clocktower (how predictable!), and had perched in the highest, out of view spot he could to begin his surveillance. He held a small pair of binoculars retrieved from his belt in front of his mask, as he stood crouched on the tip of his toes, dangerously on the edge, and studied the old city below.

Of course, the small boy was entirely positive he was alone, and he was pretty chatty in the best company; when he was alone, he just kind of...started talking to himself. Which was probably the source of the very soft mumbling under the boy's breath.]

...and I thought Victorian was already out of fashion...

The little girl steps forward, glancing around and pulling her coveralls up and slipping her arms through the sleeves. It's chilly here! And she's already missing Colorado.

Another step forward brings her foot in contact with the watch and sends it skidding a short distance away, popping open as it goes. Kneeling down in front of it a moment later, she looks it over before picking it up.]
